Arts Learning Area
The Arts develop students’ sense of personal and cultural identity and equip them for lifelong involvement in and the appreciation of the arts. Students are able to use their critical, lateral and problem-solving skills in all areas of vocational and recreational pursuits. In doing so they become more critical and discerning members of society.
In the arts learning area students develop creative skills, critical appreciation and knowledge of artistic techniques and technologies. The arts learning area at
·Year 8 taster courses: Visual Arts, Photography and Music.
·Year 9 taster courses: Media, Dance and Drama.
·Year 10 Semester-long courses: All contexts are optional. Students must select at least one context.
All courses focus on the four learning outcomes for the arts. They are:

·Arts in society
·Arts responses
In 2008 our students will be involved in a wide range of arts opportunities including: Yohfest, school choir, Peel region arts exhibition, rock band, drama workshops, variety nights, school performances, art and reward excursions.
