Maths Learning Area
In the Mathematics Learning Area, students learn to use ideas about Number, Space, Algebra, Chance and Data, and Measurement to describe, interpret and reason about their social and physical world.
Students learn to read, write and speak mathematics in a variety of contexts and forms, with an emphasis on constructivism - using a hands-on, practical approach where possible.
Students will be assessed in a variety of ways including: skills and topic tests, practical assignments, open-ended tasks and investigations.
Students will complete individual, paired and small group tasks. Talented mathematics students will be selected to compete in the Have Sum Fun Maths Challenge held in Bunbury as well as the online competition.
Students will also be offered the opportunity to compete in the Westpac Maths Competition.
